I just got my MRI report showing lumbar spondylosis with an angular tear and disk protrusions at L3-L4, L4-L5, and L5-S1 levels. It's causing spinal canal narrowing, stenosis, and severe compression on the nerve roots with impingement at L4-L5. The doctor is recommending surgery, but I'm only 25 and unmarried is surgery really necessary at this stage? Are there other treatment options I can try first?

At 25, try conservative treatments first—physio, traction, and epidurals; surgery only if severe nerve deficit or no improvement.

View allMy dad's MRI shows a diffuse bulge in L23 disc with right paracentral protrusion pressing on the right L3 nerve root, plus a diffuse bulge at L34 causing mild narrowing of the L3 neural foramina. He also has mild generalized arthropathy. He's dealing with constant back pain and leg pain is surgery the only option or can meds help manage this?
Patient is advised for neurosurgery opinion.

I took two X-rays a year apart and showed them to two different doctors. One said I have a bulging disc causing sciatic nerve pain and recommended surgery, but the other said everything looks normal. I'm confused could you help me understand what's going on and if surgery is really necessary?
Mild carry angle can be monitored; surgery is done only for severe deformity or functional issues.
