I went to a pathology lab today to get a blood test. When I went in, the staff already had the injection in her hand. Do clinics use used needles and syringes? Should I be worried about the risk of HIV, especially since it is a small pathology and not a big hospital?

Most licensed pathologies use single use disposable syringes. It is standard medical practice, even in smaller labs. If the needle was opened in front of you or appeared sealed, there is likely no risk. If you are still anxious, you can take a HIV Combo (4th Gen) Test after 2 to 4 weeks to ease your mind. Risk is extremely low unless you saw clear misuse.

Hello Doctor, I had sex with a sex worker 35 days ago. I have had symptoms for the past month, such as nail discoloration, throat dryness for three weeks, cold, constant sneezing, and penis burning sensation. Is it HIV? I tested with an antibody test today, after 5 weeks of exposure, and it was non-reactive. Please advise how accurate the antibody test is after 5 weeks?
