I'm a 32-year-old male, and during a comprehensive test I found out that my Vitamin B12 level is at 1892 pgml. For the past 7 years, I've been taking a combination of methylcobalamin 1500 mcg with pyridoxin and folic acid because my homocysteine levels were high at 15.55. Can you help me understand why my Vitamin B12 level is elevated? Is it okay for me to keep taking these tablets, or could there be any issues with high Vitamin B12 levels? Everything else in my reports looks good. Would love your advice on this.

Sorry to hear that your dad is experiencing gastric problems and body pains.

Raja Khaini (Tobacco) Concerns:

  1. Tobacco toxicity: Raja Khaini contains tobacco, which can cause stomach problems, digestive issues, and other health concerns.
  2. Post-meal consumption: Taking tobacco immediately after meals can exacerbate digestive issues.

Recommended Steps:

  1. Encourage your dad to quit tobacco: Support him in quitting Raja Khaini to alleviate gastric problems.
  2. Consult a gastroenterologist: Schedule an appointment with a specialist to rule out underlying conditions.
  3. Dietary changes: Advise your dad to:
    • Eat smaller, frequent meals
    • Avoid spicy, fatty, or heavy foods
    • Incorporate fiber-rich foods and probiotics
  4. Alternative digestive aids: Consider natural digestive aids like ginger, ajwain, or digestive enzymes.

Persistent Symptoms:

If your dad's symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor to rule out underlying conditions like:

  1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
  2. Peptic ulcers
  3. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

Encourage your dad to prioritize his health and seek medical attention if symptoms persist.

I'm really concerned about my recent blood test results that showed a high lymphocyte count of 3.65 and 42, as well as an increase in platelet size with high values for PDW, MPV, and PLCR. I'm worried about what these numbers could mean. Could there be a specific health issue causing these changes?

A high lymphocyte count (lymphocytosis) of 3.65 and 42% can be caused by various factors, including viral infections, chronic inflammation, autoimmune disorders, or blood cancers, while an increased platelet size (PDW, MPV, PLCR) may indicate a platelet disorder or a bone marrow response to inflammation or infection, so it's essential to consult a hematologist for further evaluation and diagnosis.

I'm a 22-year-old female and recently got my blood work done. My lymphocyte count is 45.7, MCH is 32.1pg, and my absolute basophils are at 6.5cmm. I haven't had any illnesses or infections in the past, but these numbers seem a bit off. Should I be concerned or do anything specific about these abnormal blood counts?

While your lymphocyte and basophil counts are slightly elevated, this may not necessarily indicate a serious issue, especially without symptoms. The best course of action is to consult your healthcare provider to discuss your lab results and get a clearer understanding of what might be happening. Your doctor may want to track these values over time or perform additional tests to rule out any underlying conditions.
