I'm a bit worried and I'm hoping you can help. If someone doesn't have cancer but has an abnormal CT scan, would they still need to get a PET scan? Is it something only cancer patients go through? Also, are PET scans safe for elderly women? I just need some clarity on this.

View allI'm really confused about my Pet Scan and biopsy results. The Pet Scan mentioned something about a 'metabolic active soft tissue density lesion' with 'irregular margins,' suggesting it could be a primary neoplastic etiology. But my biopsy sounds different; it talks about 'tiny fibrocollagenous tissue' with 'mild chronic inflammatory infiltrate' and 'occasional submucosal glands,' but no signs of atypia or malignancy. Does this mean my report is normal, and I dont have cancer? Can what I have be treated with medication? I'm trying to understand what's going on, and if there's any reason to be worried.
no its not cancer , its just inflammation

My whole family has been dealing with a viral cold and flu. Now my mom's got it too, and she's dealing with a blocked nose and body aches. Her PET scan is scheduled for tomorrow to check if the lung tumor and nodules are active. Is it a good idea to take her for the scan while she's feeling like this, or should we think about rescheduling?
they can undergo pet scan
