I'm curious about something I've come across. I know some homeopaths suggest using mother tinctures like berberis aquifolium to help with acne and scars, but I've also read that these tinctures have high levels of ethanol. I'm a bit worried because this type of alcohol is said to be drying and might not be good for facial skin. Can you please shed some light on whether ethanol is safe to use on the face?

Ethanol Effects: Ethanol can cause dryness, redness, or irritation, especially on sensitive facial skin.
-
Skin Type Consideration: For oily or acne-prone skin, some drying might help, but excessive dryness can worsen irritation.
-
Application Advice: Use tinctures sparingly and observe skin reactions. Avoid applying on broken or inflamed skin.
-
Alternatives: Consult a dermatologist for treatments specifically formulated for facial skin.
-
Patch Test: Perform a patch test on a small area to check for adverse reactions.
In summary, while using these tinctures can be safe, caution is needed due to ethanol’s drying effects. Monitor your skin’s response and seek professional advice for optimal treatment.

I was recently diagnosed with acne vulgaris and my doctor prescribed Doxycycline lactic acid bacillus 100 mg for two months. I'm concerned about whether it's safe to take this medication for that long. Is there anything I should watch out for or be aware of while taking it?
Doxycycline (100 mg) for 2 months is a standard treatment for acne vulgaris, and when combined with Lactic Acid Bacillus, it is generally considered safe, but monitor for potential side effects like gastrointestinal upset, photosensitivity, and antibiotic resistance.

I've been using Tugain 5 for a while, but my doctor recently switched me to Minokem F 5. After trying it for about two months, I'm noticing a big increase in hair fall. Im kind of worried and wondering if anyone has any suggestions or ideas about what might be going on, especially since getting an appointment with my doctor isnt that easy right now.
It seems like you may be experiencing a side effect from the new medication. I would recommend discussing this with your doctor to explore other treatment options. In the meantime, you can consider using Minoxidil solution (brand name: Rogaine) as an alternative for hair loss treatment. Apply 1mL of Rogaine solution twice daily on the scalp to promote hair growth.
