I'm dealing with a fatty liver and it's around 14 cm in size. My height is 5 feet 7 inches and I weigh about 79 kgs, which is close to 40 pounds. I'm really looking to know what other steps I can take besides taking medicine to improve my condition. What can I do?

To help manage a fatty liver, in addition to medication, lifestyle changes are crucial. You should focus on maintaining a healthy weight through a balanced diet and regular exercise. Avoid foods high in saturated fats, sugars, and refined carbohydrates. Instead, opt for a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Regular physical activity, such as aerobic exercise and strength training, can also be beneficial in reducing liver fat. Additionally, limiting alcohol consumption and managing any underlying conditions like diabetes or high cholesterol can help improve liver health. Remember to consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice and monitoring of your condition.

I've been having this really uncomfortable acid reflux where I feel like throwing up or actually do after eating. I recently saw a doctor, who asked me to get a Bilirubin test. The results showed Bilirubin Total at 1.84 (range is 0.2 to 1.3) and Bilirubin Direct at 1.05 (range is 0.0 to 0.30). The doctor said it's Jaundice, but I'm not sure about that. Could you check out my report and tell me what the symptoms of Jaundice typically are?

Jaundice can result from high bilirubin levels, and elevated direct bilirubin often points to liver or bile duct issues. However, your symptoms like acid reflux and vomiting could indicate something different, such as gastrointestinal reflux disease (GERD), or another digestive issue. It is important to follow up with your doctor to rule out any serious conditions and to confirm a diagnosis. If you have additional symptoms like yellowing of the skin or eyes, or if your discomfort worsens, it would be critical to seek medical attention promptly.

I've been dealing with this really weird problem where my breath smells like rotten eggs or sulfur and I just can't figure out why. I brush my teeth three times a dayafter I wake up, after lunch, and before bed. I also floss regularly and use nonalcoholic mouthwash. I used to have tonsil stones and thought that might be the reason, but even after getting my tonsils removed, the smell hasn't gone away. It's like the smell is coming from the top of my mouth or maybe even from my stomach. My diet is pretty normal, and I'm maintaining a healthy weight at 6'2'' and 180 lbs. Plus, I'm pretty active since I'm always on my feet at work. What do you think could be causing this?

It could be related to gastrointestinal issues. I recommend trying a medication like omeprazole (Prilosec) 20mg once daily before breakfast to reduce stomach acid production, which can sometimes contribute to bad breath. Additionally, you can try using simethicone (Gas-X) 125mg after meals to help reduce gas in the stomach, which can also cause bad breath. Make sure to follow the recommended dosages for these medications. If the issue persists, consider consulting with a gastroenterologist for further evaluation and management.
