Ringworm can be frustrating and uncomfortable.

Understanding Ringworm

Ringworm, also known as dermatophytosis, is a fungal infection that affects the skin. It's highly contagious and can be spread through direct contact with an infected person, animal, or contaminated surface.

Why Ringworm Keeps Coming Back

The recurrence of ringworm can be due to several factors:

  1. Incomplete treatment: If the treatment is not completed or is not effective, the fungus may not be fully eliminated, leading to recurrence.
  2. Contaminated environment: If the environment is not properly cleaned and disinfected, the fungus can survive and re-infect you.
  3. Weakened immune system: A weakened immune system can make you more susceptible to fungal infections, including ringworm.
  4. Skin-to-skin contact: Direct contact with an infected person or animal can spread the infection.

My 3.5-year-old daughter has flaky dandruff and an itchy scalp. I've tried using lemon and vinegar, but nothing seems to be helping. Do you think Candid B lotion would be a good option for her? Would love any advice you might have.

For your daughter's flaky dandruff and itchy scalp, you can try using Nizoral shampoo. It contains ketoconazole which is effective against dandruff and scalp itching. You can use it twice a week for 4 weeks. If the symptoms persist, please consult a dermatologist for further evaluation and management.
