I'm experiencing this ear pain in my right ear, specifically around the tragus area, and it only hurts when I touch it or sleep on that side. The doctor recommended Cetraxal online because of the COVID situation and mentioned it might be an ear infection. I've been using the medicine for a day, but there's no relief yet. I've had earwax issues a couple of times before, many years back. Could this be due to earwax again, or is it really an infection?

I've been having this strange sound in my ear, like a buzzing or hissing, and I think it's tinnitus. It's been going on for about four months now, and it only happens in one ear. It's making it really hard for me to sleep or focus during the day. I've read that tinnitus might not be treatable, and I'm feeling really stuck. Could you maybe give me some advice or guidance on what I should do next?

Feeling like something is stuck in your throat can be unsettling! Given your tobacco and pan masala addiction, it's essential to take this symptom seriously. _Possible Causes_ 1. _Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF)_: A precancerous condition common in tobacco and pan masala users. 2. _Tobacco-related lesions_: Leukoplakia, erythroplakia, or other lesions can cause throat irritation. 3. _Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)_: Stomach acid flowing up into the throat can cause discomfort. 4. _Throat infection or inflammation_: Bacterial or viral infections can cause throat irritation. _Cancer Risk_ While it's impossible to diagnose cancer without a medical examination, your tobacco and pan masala addiction increases your risk of developing oral, throat, or esophageal cancer. _Urgent Action Required_ 1. _Consult an ENT specialist or oncologist_: Schedule an appointment for a thorough examination and diagnosis. 2. _Get a biopsy or imaging tests_: If necessary, undergo tests to rule out cancer or other serious conditions. 3. _Quit tobacco and pan masala_: Seek professional help to overcome your addiction and reduce your cancer risk. Don't delay seeking medical attention. Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve outcomes.

I'm about a month post-tympanoplasty and I'm still having issues with itching and noises in my ear. Should I be concerned that it's not healing properly, or is this normal and just taking time to get better?

It's normal for some residual symptoms like itching and sounds to persist for a few weeks after tympanoplasty, as the ear canal and eardrum take time to heal; however, if the symptoms persist or worsen, consult your ENT surgeon to rule out any complications, such as graft failure, infection, or middle ear fluid, and to determine the best course of action.
