View allI'm really worried about my dad. He's 76 and has been dealing with COPD for 7 years. Just recently, he had a secondary infection causing respiratory failure type 2. At the moment, he's on 0.5 O2 to keep his oxygen level at 94. His latest abc report shows pco2 at 40 and po2 at 66. Besides COPD, he only has thyroid issues. I'm concerned about his life expectancy after this episode. Can you give me an idea if he might have 6 months, 1 year, or even 5 years left?

I've been having trouble breathing when I walk up two flights of stairs, and I start panting a lot during cricket. I struggle with just one over and I'm out of breath quickly. I used to be a chain smoker, and I'm really concerned if my past smoking might be affecting my breathing now. Could it be something serious, or is there a way to improve my situation?
