I'm really concerned because my wife, who's 6 weeks pregnant, had a bad toothache last night and ended up taking Zerodol SP. She's pretty worried now. Is that safe?

Testicular pain and size discrepancy can be concerning.

Possible Causes

  1. Hydrocele: Fluid accumulation in the testicle, causing swelling.
  2. Varicocele: Enlarged veins in the scrotum, leading to swelling and pain.
  3. Orchitis: Inflammation of the testicle, often due to infection.
  4. Epididymitis: Inflammation of the epididymis, a tube behind the testicle.
  5. Testicular torsion: A medical emergency where the testicle twists, cutting off blood flow.

Next Steps

  1. Consult a urologist: Schedule an appointment with a urologist to evaluate your symptoms.
  2. Physical examination: A urologist will perform a physical examination to assess your testicles.
  3. Imaging tests: Your urologist may order imaging tests, such as an ultrasound, to evaluate your testicles.
  4. Treatment: Depending on the diagnosis, treatment may include medication, surgery, or other interventions.

When to Seek Emergency Care

  1. Severe pain: If you experience sudden, severe pain in your testicles.
  2. Swollen or tender testicle: If your testicle is severely swollen or tender.
  3. Fever: If you have a fever over 101.5F (38.6C).
  4. Vomiting: If you experience vomiting or nausea.

My wife's been having some back pain and issues with her uterus for about a year now, she's 40. A few gynaecologists suggested we need to go for a surgery to remove the uterus. I'm just trying to understand, how much does this operation usually cost, and are there any side effects we should be aware of after the surgery? Could you give me some advice on this?

Dear Kumar, removing the uterus (hysterectomy) is a common and generally safe procedure when necessary. The cost can vary based on the hospital and type of surgery but is typically between 50,000-1,50,000. Side effects may include temporary pain, hormonal changes if ovaries are removed, and recovery time of about 4-6 weeks. Please consult your doctor for a detailed evaluation and options.

I recently had my uterus polyp removed on the 23rd, and I started my period after three weeks. It's now the fourth day, and I feel like I'm still bleeding, but I'm not sure if it's regular period flow. Normally, my cycle used to last 5 days, but for the past two months, it's extended to 7 days. Typically, by the fourth day, my period would be much lighter, but now there's still a flow, and I'm uncertain if it's just part of the period or actual bleeding. I'm currently taking antibiotics and infection medication after the procedure. Is this normal after having a DC for polyp removal, or should I check in with my gynecologist?

Its normal to experience some changes in your cycle after a D&C or polyp removal, as your body is still recovering. However, if the bleeding seems heavier than usual or if you're feeling uncertain, its always best to consult your gynecologist to ensure everything is healing properly and to rule out any complications.
