I'm really worried about my mom. She's been taking Niftas 100 mg tablets for her urinary tract infection, and even though she doesn't have any pain in her abdomen, the pain still hasn't gone away after finishing the medicine. Her doctor told her to keep taking the tablets for another two months, but every time she takes them, she gets a really bad fever. Does this sound like a normal side effect of the medicine? And is there more we can do besides drinking 3 liters of water every day like the doctor suggested? Any advice would be great because we're a bit confused about what's happening.

Niftas 100 mg tablet contains Nitrofurantoin, an antibiotic used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Fever as a Side Effect

Fever is not a common side effect of Nitrofurantoin. However, it can occur in rare cases. If your mom experiences severe fever, it's essential to consult her doctor to rule out any other underlying conditions.

UTI Treatment and Prevention

  1. Complete the antibiotic course: Ensure your mom completes the 2-month antibiotic course as prescribed by her doctor.
  2. Drink plenty of water: Continue drinking 3 liters of water daily to help flush out bacteria.
  3. Urinate when needed: Encourage your mom to urinate when she feels the need, rather than holding it in.
  4. Wipe correctly: Teach your mom to wipe from front to back to prevent bacteria from entering the urethra.
  5. Avoid irritants: Avoid using scented soaps, bubble baths, or douches, as they can irritate the urethra.
  6. Consider a urine culture test: If UTI symptoms persist, consider a urine culture test to identify the underlying cause and adjust treatment accordingly.

Alternative Solutions

  1. Cranberry juice or supplements: Cranberry products may help prevent UTIs by preventing bacterial adhesion.
  2. Probiotics: Probiotics can help maintain a healthy gut microbiome, which can aid in preventing UTIs.
  3. Heat or cold therapy: Applying heat or cold packs to the lower abdomen may help alleviate discomfort.

I've been seeing a dermatologist for a couple of months, and while it got better at first, the infection hasn't completely gone away and seems to have gotten worse again. Should I stick with the dermatologist, or is it time to see a urologist? Any advice on what I should do next?

I'm just kind of curious, how often is it considered safe to masturbate in a week? Like, I dont want to overdo it or harm myself in any way. Is there such thing as a limit I should be aware of? Hope you can help clarify this for me.

There is no strict "limit" for masturbation; it varies from person to person. Generally, it is safe if it doesn't interfere with your daily life, relationships, or responsibilities. Moderation is key, and if you feel any physical discomfort or emotional distress, its worth discussing with a doctor.

My 80-year-old grandfather has prostate enlargement and the doctor recommended testicle removal surgery but he also has prostate cancer is this surgery safe for him given his condition?

Testicle removal surgery (orchiectomy) is a form of hormone therapy for prostate cancer and can be used to manage prostate enlargement, but it's not a common treatment for prostate cancer alone. The decision of whether to proceed with the surgery needs to be made based on individual factors, including the severity of prostate enlargement, the stage and aggressiveness of prostate cancer, and the patient's overall health and life expectancy
