I'm starting to experience some weird issues with my right ear. It feels like a broken speaker, vibrating on and off. It's even worse with loud noises. This all began after a long flight, and I'm worried because Ive had problems with this ear before due to a cholesteotoma. What could be happening?

You may be experiencing symptoms of ear barotrauma, especially considering your history of cholesteatoma and recent long haul flight. I recommend using a decongestant nasal spray like Afrin (oxymetazoline) to help relieve the pressure in your ear. You can also take an over-the-counter pain reliever like Tylenol (acetaminophen) for any discomfort. Additionally, consider using earplugs or earmuffs in noisy environments to protect your ear. If the symptoms persist or worsen, please follow up with your ENT specialist for further evaluation and management.

I'm really worried about my wife. She's been dealing with a tasteless tongue and can't smell anything, and this has been going on for about three months now. She's 35 and of medium build. What's going on? Could it be something serious? What should we do next?

After eating chicken about a year ago, I felt like a bone got stuck in my throat. I went to an ENT specialist and got an X-ray, which turned out normal. A few months ago, I felt that same stuck sensation in the same spot after eating something and ended up coughing and vomiting, which made me feel better. Today, I had food and felt the same thing again, same spot, and I coughed and vomited again, but this time, I noticed some bloody sputum, and I've had a cough for the last two days. Im wondering why its the same spot every time and if the blood could be related to this cough and cold. What do you think might be going on?

I'm really concerned because I've been able to see my epiglottis for about a month now, and it seems like it's sitting really high. I'm not having any issues with breathing, swallowing, or speaking, but I'm still worried about why this is happening. Will it go away on its own, or is there something I should be doing to help it get back to normal? Any advice would be appreciated.

You may be experiencing epiglottitis, which is inflammation of the epiglottis. In adults, epiglottitis is usually caused by a bacterial infection. It is important to seek medical attention for proper evaluation and treatment. Antibiotics such as Ceftriaxone or Cefotaxime may be prescribed to treat the infection. In severe cases, hospitalization and intravenous antibiotics may be necessary. It is important to follow up with your healthcare provider for monitoring and management of your condition.
