Is it true that radiation can lead to ILD and fibrosis in lungs? If so, does that mean getting an HRCT chest scan, which uses radiation, might cause those conditions too? I'm a bit worried about it.

View allI've quit smoking recently and I've noticed something a bit concerning. My mucus has these black strings and some faded red color in it. I'm just wondering, is this normal after stopping smoking? Should I be worried?

I've been dealing with a cough for about a week now, and it's starting to make it hard for me to breathe. Do you have any advice on what I should do?
It sounds like you may be experiencing a respiratory infection. I recommend taking Robitussin or Mucinex to help relieve your cough and improve your breathing. These medications can help loosen mucus and make coughing more productive. Additionally, you may consider using a humidifier at home to help ease your symptoms. If your symptoms persist or worsen, you will need a strong course of antibiotics, for which your need to go to the hospital.
