I've been dealing with a bad cough for about a week now and I already took azithral for 5 days once a day. The thing is, for the past 3 days, I've noticed that my morning sputum has streaks of blood in it, even though the cough has gotten a bit better but it's not totally gone. Today, I actually felt a little dizzy while working. My appetite seems pretty normal, it's even increased a bit compared to before. Also, I do smoke quite a bit. Could you advise me on what might be going on or what I should do?

Vitamin D Absorption from Sunlight

Morning Sun vs. Evening Sun

  1. UVB rays: Vitamin D is produced in the skin upon exposure to UVB rays from the sun.
  2. Morning sun: UVB rays are more intense during morning hours (7-10 am), making it a better time for vitamin D production.
  3. Evening sun: While some UVB rays are still present in the evening (4-6 pm), the intensity is significantly lower, making it less effective for vitamin D production.

Tips for Vitamin D Production from Sunlight

  1. Expose skin: Expose your face, arms, and legs to sunlight for 10-15 minutes, 2-3 times a week.
  2. Avoid peak hours: Avoid sun exposure during peak hours (11 am-3 pm) to minimize skin damage and skin cancer risk.
  3. Supplement if necessary: If you're unable to get enough sunlight or have a severe deficiency, consult your doctor about vitamin D supplements.

Remember to always practice sun safety, such as seeking shade, wearing protective clothing, and applying sunscreen with at least SPF 30.

I'm a bit concerned because about two weeks ago, I had a cough and cold, but recently, for the last 10 days or so, I've noticed a small amount of blood in my sputum in the mornings when I cough up. It's not a lot, and only happens on and off, but the blood is bright red and looks fresh. The doctor gave me some antibiotics, but the blood is still there sometimes, even though the cough itself has gone away. I sometimes just feel like I need to clear my throat. I have my X-ray report ready too, just wondering if this is something to worry about?

Patient is advised sputum for AFB and culture and sensitivity tests. pulmonologist opinion .

My wife has been dealing with asthma for the past six months, and we're really worried about whether she can completely recover from it. Is there a chance that asthma can be fully eliminated from her body?

Asthma is a chronic condition that can be managed but not completely cured. With proper treatment and management, your wife can control her symptoms and lead a normal life. Medications such as inhalers like Ventolin (albuterol) for acute attacks and maintenance inhalers like Flovent (fluticasone) can help control asthma symptoms. It is important for her to follow her doctor's advice, avoid triggers, and lead a healthy lifestyle to manage her asthma effectively.

My dad's 72 and already has some heart issues. Recently, he's been dealing with fluid retention in his lungs, and even though he's on all the necessary medications and seeing a cardiologist, we're not seeing much improvement. He can't sleep well, isn't eating much, and seems to be getting weaker. We're really worried. Do you think we should consult a pulmonologist to help with his breathing, or is there something else we should be looking into to help him feel better?
