I've been dealing with this intense itching on my butt for the past 10 days, and it's not the first time I've experienced it. It seems to disappear on its own eventually, but I'm noticing a pattern where there's no visible rash or anything on my skin. However, when I do scratch, the area gets swollen and itches even more. Any idea what could be causing this or how I can get some relief?

Severe itching on the buttock can be frustrating and uncomfortable.
Possible Causes
- Anal Itching (Pruritus Ani): This is a common condition characterized by intense itching around the anus. It can be caused by various factors, such as skin irritation, allergies, or infections.
- Contact Dermatitis: This is a skin reaction that occurs when you come into contact with an allergen or irritant. It can cause itching, redness, and swelling.
- Fungal Infections: Fungal infections like candidiasis or ringworm can cause itching, redness, and swelling in the affected area.
- Hemorrhoids: Hemorrhoids can cause itching, discomfort, and swelling in the anal region.
- Skin Conditions: Certain skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or seborrheic dermatitis can cause itching and inflammation in the affected area.
What to Do
- Avoid Scratching: Try to resist the urge to scratch the affected area, as this can lead to further irritation, swelling, and infection.
- Keep the Area Clean: Maintain good hygiene by washing the area with mild soap and water. Pat dry, don't rub.

View allIs there any way to treat or manage macular amyloidosis? I've seen quite a few dermatologists, but they all told me there's no cure, and the medications they gave me didn't seem to help. Could you provide any insight or advice on this?
Unfortunately, there is currently no definitive cure for macular amyloidosis. However, topical treatments such as Tacrolimus ointment can help improve the appearance of the affected skin. You can apply Tacrolimus ointment twice daily to the affected areas as prescribed by your dermatologist. Additionally, phototherapy with Narrowband UVB light may also be beneficial in some cases. It is important to follow your dermatologist's recommendations for the best management of macular amyloidosis.

I've been dealing with perioral dermatitis and using Desowen lotion has been really helpful. However, I recently found out I'm pregnant and read somewhere that it's not safe anymore. Are there any non-steroid alternatives to this lotion that I could use during pregnancy? I'm a bit concerned and would love some advice.
