I've been dealing with some pretty persistent acid reflux for a few months now, and I've noticed blood in my stool occasionally. I consulted a doctor, who said it wasn't a big deal and that an endoscopy or colonoscopy isn't necessary right now. I'm curious, though, about what might be causing these symptoms. Could this really be something non-serious? Should I still consider getting an endoscopy to make sure everything's okay?

Despite your doctor's reassurance, it's essential to investigate the causes of your acid reflux and intermittent bloody stools, which could be related to conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastritis, ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or even colorectal cancer; considering your symptoms, it's recommended to seek a second opinion and consider undergoing an endoscopy or colonoscopy to rule out any underlying serious conditions and determine the best course of treatment.

View allI'm having a lot of trouble with gas choking near my heart when I have dinner at 9 pm. It's making it really hard for me to sleep. Whenever I try to rest, I wake up feeling uncomfortable around my heart. I'm also smoking about 4 cigarettes a day. Could this be causing these issues? What should I do?
It sounds like you might be experiencing acid reflux or indigestion, which can cause discomfort near your heart, especially after a late meal. Smoking can also contribute to this. Try to avoid heavy meals before bed and consider quitting smoking for better heart and digestive health. If the discomfort persists, its important to consult a doctor for further evaluation.

I'm dealing with constant burps throughout the day for about a month now. I've visited the doctor three times and tried different medicines like Pantocid DSR and Rantac MPS for the first 10 days without any relief. Then, the doctor switched me to Sompraz L for another week, and now I'm taking Ganaton. I don't have any abdominal pain, I'm eating less spicy and oily foods, drinking plenty of water, and I don't smoke or drink. I go for regular walks and I'm not overweight, but I still feel like there's air bubbling up my throat, making me feel like I need to burp it out. There's no smell or taste to these burps, but it's messing up my daily life and it's really embarrassing around others. The doctor has now suggested I get an endoscopy this weekend to find out what's going on. Do you have any advice on what might be causing this or any tips on how to control it?
It's good that your doctor has recommended an endoscopy to further investigate the issue. You can continue with your current lifestyle modifications of avoiding spicy and oily foods, staying hydrated, and maintaining regular physical activity. These measures, along with the prescribed medications, may help alleviate your symptoms until the underlying cause is identified through the endoscopy.
