I've been feeling this dull pain near my shoulder or armpit, and I'm starting to worry if it might be cardiac-related. Though, it could just be a muscle strain, like what WebMD is suggesting. I wanted to get some opinions to understand what might be going on. Could it really be something related to the heart, or is it more likely muscular?

Cold Sensation in Left Side Brain and Face
Possible Causes
- Migraine or tension headache: Cold sensations can be a symptom of migraines or tension headaches.
- Trigeminal nerve issues: The trigeminal nerve controls facial sensations; issues with this nerve can cause cold sensations.
- Sinus pressure or infection: Sinus issues can cause referred pain or sensations in the face and head.
- Dental problems: Toothaches or abscesses can cause radiating pain or sensations.
- Neurological conditions: Certain conditions like multiple sclerosis, neuropathy, or stroke can cause abnormal sensations.
Recommendations
- Consult a doctor: Schedule an appointment with your primary care physician or a neurologist.
- Keep a symptom journal: Record when the cold sensations occur, their duration, and any potential triggers.
- Try relaxation techniques: Stress can exacerbate symptoms; try relaxation techniques like meditation, deep breathing, or yoga.
- Maintain good oral hygiene: Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene can help rule out dental causes.
Urgent Medical Attention
- Sudden severe headache: If you experience a sudden, severe headache, seek immediate medical attention.
- Facial weakness or numbness: If you experience facial weakness, numbness, or difficulty speaking, seek urgent medical attention.

View allI'm a 30-year-old with health anxiety and I've been tracking my heart rate. When I'm resting, it jumps between 50 and 65, but during sleep, it drops down to 48. However, whenever I stand up, my heart rate shoots up to over 100, sometimes even reaching 120. Is this normal? Should I be concerned about how much it fluctuates?
When standing, a heart rate above 100-120 beats per minute can be considered normal, especially if you are experiencing anxiety. However, it would be best to monitor your heart rate regularly and consult with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and management of your health anxiety. For anxiety, you can try relaxation techniques and therapy. In case of severe anxiety, medications like Sertraline (50mg daily) or Escitalopram (10mg daily) can be prescribed by a doctor.

I'm pretty worried right now because my heart rate is 92102 per minute while I'm just laying down. It's making me feel really nervous and even more sick. Plus, my left hand and the left side of my back (not right in the middle) are aching. Could this be some kind of warning sign?
Your symptoms of increased heart rate, nervousness, left hand ache, and left side back pain could be due to anxiety or stress. However, it is important to rule out any underlying heart condition. I recommend you take a tablet of propranolol 10mg to help lower your heart rate and reduce anxiety. You can take it up to three times a day as needed. Additionally, you can take acetaminophen 500mg for the left hand and back pain. Make sure to rest and try some relaxation techniques to help alleviate your symptoms.

Why do I feel nervous and anxious all the time? My heart's always thumping really hard, and I can actually feel it when I touch my chest. It's making me really uneasy. What could be causing this?
