I've been sweating a lot since yesterday and when I checked my SpO2 with a pulse oximeter, it read between 93 and 98. I'm a bit worried and wondering if I should be checking it while I'm resting or after some activity. Is this range normal or is there something I should be concerned about? I haven't had a fever.

Your SpO2 readings between 93% and 98% are generally within an acceptable range, especially if you feel well and have no other symptoms like fever or breathlessness. Here are some key points to consider:
-
When to check SpO2: Measure your oxygen saturation while at rest, as activity can temporarily lower the reading.
-
Normal range: Typically, a normal SpO2 is between 95% and 100%. Readings slightly below 95% can occur but may need attention if persistent or accompanied by symptoms.
-
Excessive sweating: Sweating without fever could be due to stress, hormonal changes, or other non-infectious reasons. If it continues or you develop other symptoms, consult a healthcare provider.
-
When to seek help: Seek medical evaluation if you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, or if your SpO2 consistently stays below 92%.
In summary, your current SpO2 readings are mostly reassuring. Keep monitoring your symptoms, and consult a healthcare professional if you feel unwell or notice worsening signs.

View allI'm feeling really stressed because for the past five months I've been having this constant feeling of my body being hot to the touch, but all my HIV tests have turned out negative. I've done the p24 test, the Western Blot, and the HIV PCR RNA Quantitative. It's really concerning me because I also feel like I have an internal fever. Could there be something else causing these symptoms or should I be looking into other tests? What steps should I take next?
It's important to seek help and talk to someone about what you're going through. In terms of the fever, if it has been persistent and you're feeling unwell, you may need to consider taking some medication to help reduce the fever. You can take Acetaminophen (Tylenol) 500mg every 4-6 hours as needed for fever. However, it's crucial to address the underlying issues causing you distress. Please reach out to a mental health professional or counselor for support.
