I've been tested for VDRL and RPR, and both came back negative, but my TPHA result was positive with a titer of 1160. I haven't had any lesions, rashes, or other symptoms, and this is my first time testing positive for syphilis. I've done the VDRL test four times in the last two years, and they've always been negative. Can you tell me which stage of syphilis this might indicate and if a titer level of 1160 is something to worry about? What would the treatment be?

Consult a healthcare provider: It's important to discuss your results with your doctor. They can confirm whether you have latent syphilis and guide you through the necessary treatment. Possible further testing: Your doctor might order additional tests or monitor your condition to see if there are any signs of active infection. Even though you're not showing symptoms, treatment is crucial to prevent complications and transmission to others.

View allOkay, so I recently got a tattoo on my back and ever since, I've been feeling a bit off. I'm having a fever, my neck feels really cramped, and I'm struggling with my breathing. I did get a tetanus shot last year, so I'm kind of worried and confused. Should I consider getting another tetanus vaccine, or could these symptoms be linked to something else? What do you think I should do?
It is important to ensure that your tetanus vaccination is up to date, especially if you have experienced symptoms that could be related to tetanus. Since you have received a tetanus vaccine last year, it is recommended to get a booster dose if it has been more than 5 years since your last tetanus-containing vaccine. You can get a booster dose of Tdap vaccine, which includes protection against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. Please consult with your healthcare provider to confirm the timing and dosage of the vaccine based on your individual situation.

I'm a bit worried about something. I had sex with a condom with a commercial sex worker, and there was some kind of cut or abrasion on my penis shaft inside the condom. The condom didn't break or slip during sex, but I'm anxious about the risk of HIV transmission when taking the condom off. Could you help me understand what the chances are?
There is minimal risk, but try to avoid having sex until your wound is healed, and get yourself tested for HIV every 6 months once.

I'm dealing with a 99-degree fever after having typhoid for two months. Even though Ive recovered from typhoid, this mild fever still lingers. My fever panel results are normal and my chest X-ray looks fine. What additional tests should I consider to figure out what's causing this fever?
To further investigate the cause of your persistent low-grade fever after recovering from typhoid, I would recommend the following tests. Blood culture to check for any bacterial infection. Urine culture to rule out urinary tract infection. Widal test to ensure complete recovery from typhoid. Dengue NS1 antigen test to rule out dengue fever. Malaria antigen test to rule out malaria. Typhidot test for typhoid fever. Liver function tests to assess liver health post-typhoid. Complete blood count (CBC) to check for any underlying infection or inflammation. Serology tests for other viral infections like hepatitis. Thyroid function tests to rule out thyroid disorders causing fever These tests will help in identifying the underlying cause of your persistent fever and guide further treatment.
