I've been using Betnovate C on my face for about a year to control my pimples and help with skin lightening. Whenever I stop using it, my pimples flare up again. I usually apply it at night. My friends keep telling me that it's not safe to use Betnovate C continuously. I'm really confused and would love some advice on what I should do. Is there something else I can try?

I'm African American and I've noticed my skin used to be much lighter, but over the past six years, it's gotten so dark that I can barely see myself at night.
