I've had a pilonidal cyst for the last 4 years and it's really bothering me - is there any medication that can cure it without needing surgery? Are there any new treatments or methods to make it go away for good?

View allI had my hernia surgery about 4 months ago and everything seemed fine, but for the past 10-15 days, I've been feeling a light pain near the surgery cut. Could this be something serious I should worry about?

I've been hearing a lot that open surgery is better than laparoscopic for inguinal hernia repair but I don't really get why - isn't keyhole surgery supposed to be less invasive with faster recovery? What makes open surgery the preferred option in most cases?
While laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair is generally preferred due to its minimally invasive nature and faster recovery, open surgery can sometimes be the better option depending on the individual's circumstances and the nature of the hernia. Open surgery offers the advantages of a single, larger incision and potentially easier access to the hernia sac, while laparoscopic surgery offers advantages like less pain, faster recovery, and less scarring.

My husband's sonogram shows an anterior low anal intersphincteric fistula at the 12 o'clock position with an internal opening at the low anal level. The report says both internal and external sphincters are normal. He had a pus-filled abscess that burst on its own and keeps coming back, but no other symptoms like constipation, pain during bowel movements, or blood in stool. The doctor recommended surgery but didn't prescribe any meds. Since he's otherwise healthy, is surgery really necessary?
A detailed evaluation will help decide the best course of action.
