I've had vision problems since I was a kid started at -2 and now it's -7. No doctor has been able to tell me if it's curable. Are there any treatment options besides surgery that could help improve my eyesight?

A prescription of -7 in eyesight indicates a high level of nearsightedness, also known as myopia. It means that the eye's lens needs a powerful negative lens to focus light correctly onto the retina, allowing for clear vision at close distances but making it difficult to see distant objects clearly. This condition typically requires glasses or contact lenses for proper vision correction

View allWhich procedure is better between LASIK and PRK when it comes to quality of vision after surgery and post-operative pain? I've heard there can be other issues after surgery too. Also, my corneal thickness is 495 um with a power of 3.50 in both eyes, and all my topography tests came back normal. Would LASIK or PRK be the better option for me to get rid of my glasses?
With normal topography and 495 μm corneal thickness, PRK is safer than LASIK and has less risk of complications; PRK has slightly more pain initially but similar long-term vision quality.

Can a slit lamp microscope alone detect if PRK or TransPRK surgery has fully healed or would I need additional tests to confirm everything's okay
No, slit lamp alone can't confirm healing after PRK/TransPRK. Additional tests like corneal topography, pachymetry, and visual acuity are needed for complete assessment.

I'm planning to get my dad's cataract surgery done at Narayana Netralaya in Rajajinagar, Bangalore. Could you recommend the best doctor there for this procedure? I know it's subjective, but I'd really appreciate your opinion on who might be the top specialist for this surgery.
ophthal opinion is advised.
