I've just had a stool test come back showing cysts of E. histolytica. I'm really worried about whether this is a chronic issue. Also, I'm experiencing some mucous discharge when I pass stool. Is there any treatment you would recommend?

Anal pain and hard stools can be uncomfortable and painful.
Possible Causes
- Constipation: Hard stools can cause anal pain, especially when passing stools.
- Hemorrhoids: Swollen veins in the anus can cause pain, especially when sitting or passing stools.
- Anal fissure: A small tear in the anal lining can cause pain and bleeding.
Self-Care Measures
- Increase fiber intake: Eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to soften stools.
- Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help soften stools.
- Exercise regularly: Regular physical activity can help stimulate bowel movements.
- Avoid straining: Try to avoid straining during bowel movements, as this can exacerbate the issue.
- Use a stool softener: Consider taking a stool softener like psyllium husk or methylcellulose.
When to Consult a Doctor
- Severe pain: If the pain is severe or persistent.
- Bleeding: If you experience bleeding during bowel movements.
- Difficulty passing stools: If you have difficulty passing stools or experience severe constipation.

View allI'm really concerned about my husband. He went for a sonography because of his stomach pain, and they found something else too. His report says his liver size is normal, but there's an increased echo pattern mentioned. He also has high blood pressure, but he doesn't drink alcohol. I'm worried about what this could mean and how it might develop. Is it something serious?

Found a 9mm gallstone during my company health checkup what should I do next is there any medicine to dissolve it or do I need surgery could this stone cause problems later
A 9mm gallstone found during a health checkup requires follow-up with a doctor. While medication can sometimes dissolve gallstones, especially cholesterol stones, it's not a guaranteed solution and may take months or years. Surgery (cholecystectomy) to remove the gallbladder is often the preferred treatment for symptomatic gallstones, and it's generally more effective than medication. Whether or not the stone will cause problems later depends on whether it causes symptoms, and if so, what kind of symptoms.

I recently got my full body test results back, and my bilirubin total is 1.81. It's a bit higher than the normal range, which I understand is between 0.2 to 1.2. Should I be worried about this? What could be causing it, and what steps can I take to bring it back to normal?
