Is LASIK surgery actually safe in the long run? I've heard mixed things about potential risks or complications years after the procedure and it's making me hesitant to go through with it

LASIK surgery is generally considered a safe procedure with a high success rate, and most patients experience long-term benefits. While there are potential risks and complications, serious long-term issues are rare, and most patients maintain clear vision for many years.

View allI have 3D myopia in both eyes and I've heard people say myopia can be reduced naturally without surgery. Some claim they lowered their prescription by wearing glasses with 0.25D less power than needed and doing eye exercises like the 20-20-20 rule. Is there any truth to this? Can myopia improve even slightly without surgery?
High myopia and exercises aren’t proven to reduce myopia;specialized slow-progress lenses and lifestyle changes may stabilize vision, but corrections don’t reverse it.

I have a prescription of -5 in my left eye and -4.5 in my right eye with 2.5 astigmatism in both eyes. Would I be a good candidate for LASIK? I'm really concerned about potential side effects like bad night vision, halos, and chronic dry eye after the surgery how likely are these to happen? What are the success rates for someone with my prescription? Could LASIK actually get me to a point where I don't need glasses anymore?
Patient is advised for an ophthalmologist opinion.
