My 5 years 4 months old daughter, weighing 19 kg, has been having fever. We visited the hospital and the doctor advised CALPAL if fever is more than 101F and MEFTHAL P if more than 101F, and asked us to revisit after 2 days if the fever persisted. The fever has been on and off with medicine. We consulted the doctor again. She prescribed an antibiotic syrup (ZIPRAX 100) and suggested a CBC test. The results are mostly normal, but the platelet count is 1.20 L/mm (I understand the normal range should be 1.5 to 4 L/mm). Today, my daughter is also feeling dull. What should be done?

A platelet count of 1.20 lakh (120,000) is mildly low but not an emergency if your child is not bleeding or having rashes. Fever can temporarily lower platelets. Ensure she drinks fluids and takes medicines as advised. If she develops bleeding, red spots on the skin, or excessive drowsiness, visit the hospital immediately. Repeat CBC in 2 to 3 days to monitor platelets while continuing treatment.

I have been experiencing high fever since Saturday, and my reports indicate dengue. Along with fever, I have full body pain and itching. My blood reports are: Monday CBC: WBC 4300, Platelets 2.5 lakh Tuesday CBC: WBC 2600, Platelets 1.5 lakh, SGPT 101, BP 100/70 I am currently taking Lenol ER, C Lin 500, Rabeprazole Sodium, and Domperidone DSR. Previously, I was able to reduce the fever with Paracetamol (Calpol 650), but now the fever is persistent. How should I manage this? What steps can help cure or relieve my symptoms?
