My grandfather is 83 and had a fall in the bathroom that caused a blood clot in his brain. The doctors are recommending surgery, but I'm worried can surgery really fix this at his age? Is it safe for him to go through the procedure? Would really appreciate your advice.

Sorry to hear about situation. Age is not the only factor, surgery and outcome depends on his general health, state of his heart function. Please discuss with physician and neurosurgeon.

My aunty has been diagnosed with lumbar lordosis and her MRI shows loss of normal lordosis in the lumbar spine. There's moderate lumbar spondylosis with disc degeneration, a posterior disc bulge at L4-L5 and L5-S1 causing narrowing, and a central/paracentral disc protrusion at L1-L2 compressing the thecal sac and mildly narrowing the neural foramina. The doctor recommended surgery but I'm worried is surgery the only option for a permanent fix? Are there other treatments that could help her condition without going under the knife?

While surgery may be considered for severe cases, it's not always the first or only option for lumbar lordosis and related issues like spondylosis and disc degeneration. Conservative treatments, including physical therapy, medication, and lifestyle modifications, can often provide significant relief and improve function.

What are the potential complications I should be aware of after surgery for this right temporal and fronto-parietal brain lesion? It's a mixed-intensity lesion with cystic and hemorrhagic areas, about 5.3 cm in size, showing low T1 and high T2 signals on MRI. I'm especially concerned about recovery risks given the location and characteristics of the tumor.

My wife has been dealing with a CSF leak since March 21st what should we be doing at home to help her feel better? Also, any idea how much the surgery might cost?

While a CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) leak is best treated under the supervision of a doctor, some initial conservative measures can be taken at home to manage symptoms and potentially help the leak heal. These include bed rest, increased fluid intake, and avoiding activities that increase head pressure The cost of CSF leak surgery in India varies, but generally, an endoscopic repair procedure can cost around ‚Çπ2.5 lakh. However, some cases may have lower costs, and in some instances, procedures have been performed free of cost
