My last menstrual period was on April 24. We had unprotected intercourse on April 28, and I took an emergency contraceptive (ipill) on April 29. My period has still not arrived. I have taken five home pregnancy tests, all of which were negative. I consulted a doctor, who prescribed Meperate, and I have been taking it for the past three days, but my period has not started yet. I am feeling worried.

Emergency pills can delay your periods by several weeks due to hormonal changes. Since all your pregnancy tests are negative, its unlikely youre pregnant. Meprate doesnt cause periods during the course bleeding usually starts 7 to 10 days after finishing the full dose. Wait till then.

Is it necessary for the value of two beta hCG tests to increase in order to confirm a pregnancy? If both values are the same, what does it indicate? The tests were done 48 hours apart.
