My mom had knee surgery for a fracture and she has hypothyroidism but we didn't get her thyroid levels checked before the surgery was that really necessary or could it affect her recovery

Uncontrolled hypothyroidism can impact surgical recovery—thyroid function should ideally be checked pre-op.

View allIve been dealing with a problem between the L4 and L5 for the last 25 days. Initially, I suffered from back pain, but now for the past 10 days, the pain has moved to the right side of my leg and is not so much in my back. Is this something I should be worried about, and what can I do to alleviate it?
You are now experiencing referred pain, because the nervous supply of the legs takes root from the lumbo-sacral section of the spine. The treatment will involve physiotherapy and non-steroidal anti inflammatory medication. In order to determine extent and severity, consult a spine surgeon for a reliable treatment plan.

I've been told I might need surgery but I'm not sure if it's the best option for me. Can you help me understand the pros and cons of going through with it versus trying other treatments first? I'm really worried about making the wrong choice.

It's been four months since my fracture and I'm still using a walker. The x-ray shows a separate bone fragment will this heal on its own or will I need surgery to fix it?
Whether a separate bone fragment will heal on its own or require surgery depends on several factors, including the size of the fragment, its location, and whether it's causing any pain, functional limitations, or damage to nearby tissues. If it's been four months since the fracture and the fragment hasn't healed, it's possible that it's a non-union fracture, meaning the bone pieces haven't joined together. In these cases, surgery might be necessary to try to promote healing or remove the fragment.
