My recent TSH test result is 3.42. I have been taking 125 mcg of thyroid medication for years, but I am still not getting relief and continue to gain weight. A doctor I consulted for back pain mentioned that the medicine I am taking could be fake, since my thyroid is in range but my dosage is high. What mcg dose should I actually be taking?

TSH 3.42 is slightly above optimal, especially if on 125 mcg for long. Continued symptoms suggest your dose or medicine brand may not be effective. Recheck thyroid profile with T3/T4 and TSH. Switch to trusted brand if needed.
