My son was diagnosed with glue ear and the doctor recommended surgery. Is there any way to treat it with medication instead or are there other options we could try before going for surgery? I'm really worried about putting him through an operation.

Glue ear often resolves on its own. Try nasal decongestants, antihistamines, or wait 3 months if mild. Surgery (grommet insertion) is advised only if persistent or affecting hearing/speech.

View allI'm trying to figure out how to use this povidone iodine germicide gargle. I visited the ENT hospital, and they gave me some Betadine. How do I use it properly? Is there anything specific I should know or be careful about when using it?
To use povidone iodine germicide gargle, such as Betadine, follow these instructions: Dilute the Betadine solution with an equal amount of water before using it as a gargle. Gargle with the diluted solution for 30 seconds to 1 minute. - Do not swallow the solution; spit it out after gargling. Use the gargle as directed by your healthcare provider, usually 2-4 times a day. Avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes after using the gargle. This will help in reducing bacteria and germs in your mouth and throat.

I've been struggling with total hearing loss in one ear and hearing aids don't seem to work for me. Can you tell me more about cochlear implant surgery - like how it works, if I'd be a good candidate, and what the recovery process looks like? I'm really curious but also a bit nervous about the whole procedure.

I've been dealing with tonsil issues for the past 2-3 years, but only the left one hurts and it's gotten bigger. It's really affecting my life and I'm feeling so down about it. Is there any way to treat this without surgery? I'm desperate for some guidance on what to do next
It's understandable that you're seeking non-surgical solutions for your persistent tonsil issue. Since you've been dealing with this for 2-3 years and the left tonsil is particularly affected, it's important to rule out other possibilities and get a proper diagnosis
