My uncle has to get cataract surgery for his left eye but his hemoglobin is just 5. Is it safe for him to have the surgery with such low hemoglobin?

My 4-year-old has been having a squint occasionally, like 3-4 times a day but not constantly. Is surgery the only option or are there other treatments we can try since he's still so young? Really worried about putting him through surgery at this age. What would you recommend?
