My Widal test report shows: O type: 1:160 H type: 1:80 ESR: 40 mm Could you please advise if these results indicate typhoid infection?
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
Widal titres suggest past or recent infection. ESR high indicates inflammation. Alone not diagnostic unless symptoms present. Consider repeat if fever persists.
Dr. Yusuf Suggests...
Take a CBC Test (Complete Blood Count) Test or Take a Typhoid Test Test

I have a Widal test report. TO is 1:160 positive, TH is negative, AH is negative, and BH is negative. I took Ciprobid 500 mg tablet twice a day for 10 days. The doctor asked me to stop the tablets for seven days and get the report again, saying it may become negative. Is this possible? I need to submit a negative report for my foreign employment as a hotelier. My physician said it is impossible and that TO can remain the same without any rise for a long time.

I tested COVID 19 positive and completed all prescribed medications while staying in home quarantine. For the last 7 to 8 days, I have been experiencing severe fatigue and a mild fever (99 to 100F). Yesterday, I tested positive for Typhoid. I am unsure if this is a lingering effect of COVID 19 or a true Typhoid infection. My Typhoid test results are: AH: 1:80 BH: 1:80 TH: 1:160 TO: 1:320 Should I start antibiotics for Typhoid? Do I need any further tests to confirm the infection?
