My wife is currently taking Thyronorm 75 mcg. Before conceiving, her TSH level was 3. Now, at 5 weeks pregnant, her latest TSH level is 4.73. The reference range for TSH in the first trimester is below 4.5. Could you please advise if this level is a concern and if any changes to her medication or treatment are needed?

A TSH level of 4.73 in the first trimester is slightly high. It should ideally be under 2.5 to 4.0. The doctor may increase thyronorm dosage slightly. Regular monitoring of Thyroid levels and consultation of a gynaecologist is advised.

My recent blood report shows that my TSH level is 12.04. I am a female, currently weighing 83 kg with a height of 6 feet 7 inches. My doctor has prescribed me 50 mcg of Thyronorm. However, a family member who is also a physician suggested that because my TSH level is quite high, I could take 125 mcg instead. I am four weeks pregnant. As per my blood test report, my thyroid level is 10.58. I have also undergone a gall bladder operation four years ago.
