My wife has been on steroids for a week due to her higher ESR rate, and I'm a bit worried because she's recently developed some swelling around her knee. Could the swelling be a side effect of the steroids? Would love to know what you think.

Steroids can indeed cause side effects, including swelling in the legs. This swelling is known as peripheral edema and can be a result of fluid retention caused by the steroids. It is important to monitor this side effect and inform your doctor about it. In the meantime, elevating the legs and reducing salt intake may help alleviate the swelling.

View allI've been dealing with a fever every evening accompanied by chills for over 20 days, but I didn't have any other symptoms. So, I went to see a physician, took antibiotics, and had all kinds of blood tests done, along with a chest X-ray and a CT scan. Everything came back normal except for my ESR, which was elevated. Now, the fever is gone, but the ESR count is still high, and none of the doctors can figure out why. Could you help me understand what's going on?

I'm feeling really concerned because I've been having back, shoulder, and neck pain that even radiates to my chest for about a year now. My blood pressure was usually normal, but after doing some heavy stretching exercises yesterday, I suddenly got pain all over my body and my BP went up to 13493. I've seen an orthopedic doctor before who mentioned it might be myofascial pain. Should I be worried about the increase in my BP, or is this typical when you're in pain?
It is important to monitor your blood pressure regularly, especially if you are experiencing new symptoms like body aches. A reading of 13493 is slightly elevated and may be related to the recent increase in physical activity. However, it is recommended to keep an eye on your blood pressure and consult a doctor if it remains consistently high. In the meantime, you can try over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen for your body aches.

My mom has been dealing with a lot of knee pain because the gel between her joints has dried up. She can barely walk a little before needing to sit down, and going upstairs is really tough for her. She's also overweight for her height, and I'm hesitant about knee replacement surgery because the recovery time is so long. What's the best way to manage her condition? Can you suggest a good doctor or clinic in Mumbai or Navi Mumbai for her?
For knee pain due to joint gel loss, weight management, physical therapy, and injections like hyaluronic acid can help. Consult a knee specialist in Mumbai/Navi Mumbai for non-surgical options and second opinions on knee replacement.
