my wife has a small umbilical hernia and the doctors said surgery isn't needed right now but i'm worried about what happens if we don't do it later could it get worse also are there any foods she should avoid and how can we manage it at home

A small umbilical hernia might not require immediate surgery, but it can potentially worsen over time without treatment. It could get larger, causing pain, discomfort, or activity limitations. It's also important to be aware of potential complications like incarceration (hernia gets stuck and can't be pushed back in) or strangulation (blood supply to the trapped tissue is cut off).

View allI have a small 8mm inguinal hernia on the right side and want to avoid mesh implants I've heard about the Desarda technique using a tissue graft instead. Is it really as effective as mesh repair? Also, can you recommend places in India where I can get this surgery done?
hernioplasty is advised,sx opinion.

I have a 5mm umbilical hernia with no pain or other symptoms, but I deal with frequent constipation. Should I just wait and see how it goes or is surgery the better option? Looking for advice from a general surgeon or gastroenterology specialist.
Umbilical hernia no matter how small will need surgical correction only. Nothing else will help.

I've noticed a small pea-sized lump in my chest area and sometimes experience chest pain too. I read online that it could be related to the xiphoid process. How can I confirm what this is, and if it needs to be removed, what's the usual cost for the surgery?
A chest lump near the xiphoid could be cartilage or lipoma. An ultrasound or CT scan can confirm. Surgical removal costs ₹15,000–₹40,000 typically.
