The patient has a history of diabetes. Over the last 4 days, the patient has been unable to eat well and is having severe diarrhea and loose motions. Even liquid intake is getting refluxed out. This has led to low sugar levels on one occasion, and yesterday the consulting doctor stopped the sugar medicine. As per the attached blood test report, the patient has high levels of hemoglobin and PCV. What could be the root cause? At what point should hospitalization be considered?

Dehydration is likely. Persistent GI loss + high PCV + hypoglycemia possible acute emergency. Immediate Electrolytes, CBC, and Blood Gas Analysis required. Hospitalization recommended if unable to hydrate.

Dr. Hema Suggests...

Take a CBC Test (Complete Blood Count) Test or Take a Electrolytes Test Test
