What causes shortness of breath when lying down?
More Pulmonology/ Respiratory Medicine Health Queries
View allI'm experiencing some concerning symptoms after being prescribed certain medicines for my breathing issues and high IGE levels. I've been taking Omnacortil, starting at 40 mg and tapering down, but after finishing the 30 mg dose yesterday, I decided not to take it today because I've been having blurred vision, confusion, and feeling really weak. I've also stopped taking Histafree M two days ago, and I finished my course of L Cin 500. The only thing I'm still taking is Zincovit. Could these symptoms be caused by the medication, or is there something else going on? I'm really worried and would love some advice.

I've been using an asthalin salbutamol inhaler for the past 20 years. I'm wondering if there's any other option available that's similar. Also, how can I monitor or check my asthma attacks better?
If you're looking for alternatives to Asthalin (Salbutamol), your doctor may prescribe other bronchodilators like Levalbuterol or Formoterol, or combination inhalers that include an inhaled corticosteroid. To monitor your asthmatic attacks, consider using a peak flow meter, which measures how quickly you can breathe out air, and track your readings to identify patterns and potential triggers

I'm worried because my mom's oxygen levels drop when she sleeps. The doctors mentioned that her lungs aren't expelling enough oxygen when she breathes out. She's 67 years old, weighs 95 kg, and is about 5 feet tall. Do you have any advice on what we can do to help her?
Your mother's condition, known as sleep-related hypoxemia, may be related to obesity-hypoventilation syndrome (OHS) or sleep apnea, given her weight and age; consider consulting a pulmonologist or sleep specialist for a thorough evaluation, including a sleep study, and potential treatments like continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, oxygen supplementation, or weight loss strategies to improve her oxygen levels and overall health.
