What is optimal sugar level for type 2 diabetes?
Goal fasting blood sugar is 80 - 130, post prandial blood sugar is < 180 mg/dl.

High sugar levels causes blood vessel damage, vascular remodelling leading to increased peripheral artery resistance. Also, body fluid volume increases in response to insulin resistance-induced hyperinsulinemia and hyperglycemia. Both increased peripheral vascular resistance and body fluid volume lead to increase in systemic blood pressure causing Hypertension.
It's not that every Diabetic patient does not stick to diet plan, it mostly depends on the person's lack of motivation irrespective of the disease. It's also understandable since diabetes is a long standing medical condition, every patient may need repetitive conusellings to adhere to diet plan.
Prefer foods lower in fat and calories and higher in fiber. Focus on fruits, green vegetables and whole grains.

Figs are good in fibre content and when taken in moderation are good for diabetic patients. Avoid consuming huge amounts and also dried figs.
