What is the test used to diagnose fibroids? Can fibroids cause problems during pregnancy? Please advise.
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
To detect fibroids, a pelvic ultrasound is the standard test. It helps identify the size, number, and location of fibroids. Some fibroids do not affect pregnancy at all, while others especially those inside the uterus may affect fertility or cause discomfort. It is best to consult a gynecologist with your scan report to know what next steps are needed. An iron profile may help to check if you are low in iron levels due to blood loss because of fibroids.
