What's the medical term for water buildup in the spine and what symptoms should I watch out for? How serious can this get and are there any treatments that help? Also, if surgery is needed, which hospitals in India are best for this procedure? It's urgent.

The medical term for water buildup in the spinal cord is syringomyelia, a condition where a fluid-filled cyst (syrinx) forms within the spinal cord. If you suspect you have this condition, seek immediate medical attention as it can cause serious neurological problems

My dad is 59 and has had sciatica pain from a slipped disc between L4-L5 for 10 years. Doctors recommended surgery but said it might not last and could have lifelong risks, so we stuck with physio and meds. Now he's getting numbness and pain in his leg and fingers. Should we consider surgery now or keep trying physio and meds?
New numbness and worsening sciatica after long-term conservative care may indicate nerve compression—surgical decompression may now offer better relief and prevent damage.

I took two X-rays a year apart and showed them to two different doctors. One said I have a bulging disc causing sciatic nerve pain and recommended surgery, but the other said everything looks normal. I'm confused could you help me understand what's going on and if surgery is really necessary?
Mild carry angle can be monitored; surgery is done only for severe deformity or functional issues.
