My mom is 52 and both lobes of her thyroid are enlarged, extending into the supraclavicular space with possible retrosternal extension on the left side. The right lobe measures 4.6x1.8x1.5 cm and the left is 6.1x4.2x4.0 cm. The largest nodule is 1.7x1.5 cm in the right lobe and 3.0x2.5 cm in the left. Can this be treated with medicines or does she need surgery?
