Diabetics lose weight as there is no insulin available to move glucose into the body's cells, glucose builds up in the bloodstream. The kidneys then work to remove this unused sugar through urination. The sugar is not used as energy, so the body starts burning fat and muscle for energy, resulting in weight loss

Does losing weight lower blood glucose in type II diabetes?

My daughter who is 11 years old was diagnosed last month with prediabetes and hypothyroidism. This month the doctor asked for a blood test and a follow up. Should I get her HbA1C test done along with fasting and postprandial sugar tests or only one of them? Which test will help to check if there is any improvement in her sugar levels? The doctor has asked only to do TSH, LFT, and lipid profile and meet him. Since she is on 25mg Eltroxin medication, should I also check her sugar levels while doing the blood test? Please advise.
