View allMy question is about whether labs have different reference values because of the reagents used in processing. My lab report shows an A1C value of 6, and the lab normal range shows up to 6.2. I understand that normal values are usually less than 5.7, but in this case, can 6 be considered normal since the lab range shows up to 6.2? I understand fasting is high, but please restrict your answer to differences in lab normal ranges.

My mother is 53 years old and has diabetes. Her recent blood report shows, serum creatinine is 1.0 mg/dL, blood urea is 33 mg/dL, cholesterol is 144 mg/dL, fasting blood sugar is 104 mg/dL, and post meal blood sugar is 177 mg/dL. Are these results concerning, and what should be the next steps for her care?
