Many women wonder about weight changes with the Mirena IUD. Here's what you should know:
-
Weight Gain and Mirena:
Clinical studies have not shown a consistent link between the Mirena (levonorgestrel 52 mg) IUD and significant weight gain. Some women may notice slight changes, but these are often due to other factors. -
Individual Variations:
Every body reacts differently to hormonal contraceptives. While some users report feeling bloated or experiencing minor weight fluctuations, these are usually temporary. -
Other Factors:
Lifestyle, diet, stress, and other health conditions can influence weight more than the IUD itself.
If you have concerns about weight or other side effects, discussing them with your healthcare provider can help tailor the best contraceptive choice for you. Remember, Mirena is effective and generally well-tolerated, with benefits like reduced menstrual bleeding and long-term contraception.

View allI got my period on May 30th and was told to take Ovral L. When exactly should I start taking it, and is it okay to use if I'm thinking about getting pregnant in the future?
If you want to take Ovral L for contraception, start it on the first day of your period (May 30th), or as advised by your doctor. If you are planning for conception, you should stop taking Ovral L and give your body some time to adjust. Consult with your doctor about the best time to start trying to conceive after stopping birth control.
