Hi, I used to consume high levels of alcohol for 10 years. For the past 5 years, I have quit hard liquor but have beer 5 days a week, around 2 bottles of 650 ml each. I have fatty liver grade 1. SGOT is 37 and SGPT is 64. Total bilirubin is 0.6. All other liver parameters are normal. Will this fatty liver grade continue to progress? I swim for an hour 6 days a week, around 400 metres. I have been taking Reheptin 1 tab a day for 6 years.

Your SGOT (37) and SGPT (64) are slightly elevated, and Grade 1 fatty liver is early-stage and often reversible. Continued beer consumption (5 days/week) can still impact liver health over time. Swimming and Reheptin are helping, but lifestyle matters too. Aim to reduce alcohol further, maintain a lean diet, and monitor weight.

Take a LFT (Liver Function) Test Test or Take a Lipid Profile Test Test

View allI am Nikhil, 26 years old. Three months ago, I had jaundice with SGPT 235 and SGOT 91, which returned to normal within 10 days. Now, I have jaundice again with SGPT 150 and SGOT 90, even though I have been following a proper diet. I have done tests for HBsAg, Anti HCV, and Anti HBc total, and all are normal. My ESR is 18. I am concerned about the repeated rise in liver enzymes. What could be the reason, and is this dangerous?
