I am a 33 year old science graduate. I know that fever and high WBC count are defense mechanisms of our body to protect from infection. But my CBC blood report showed a low WBC count, and I have had fever for 5 days. How are low WBC count and fever related to each other?

You are correct that high WBC typically fights infection. Sometimes, viral infections can cause fever with low WBC counts by suppressing bone marrow temporarily. Dengue, viral fevers, and some bacterial infections can show this pattern. Continue hydration, rest, and monitor for any bleeding, rash, or worsening weakness. You can book a Repeat CBC and Dengue NS1/IgM test to monitor counts and rule out dengue if fever persists.

I just received my father blood test report and the results say IGG negative, IGM positive, and NS1 antigen negative. Does that mean he is diagnosed with dengue virus?
