I had dengue fever in July 2017. Currently, many dengue cases have been reported in my locality in Bangalore. I have the following concerns: Is a second dengue infection always severe or fatal? I have two children, a 5 year old boy and a 3 month old baby girl and I am very worried. Which test is considered confirmatory for dengue?

Dengue can occur more than once, but it is not always fatal. The risk of severe dengue is higher in second infections, but with early detection, hydration, and monitoring, it is manageable. Watch for high fever, severe weakness, bleeding, or tummy pain. The Dengue NS1 Antigen test (within first 5 days of fever) and Dengue IgM test (after 5 days) are confirmatory tests. Maintain mosquito protection for you and your children and seek prompt medical care if fever develops.

Take a Dengue NS1 Antigen - Elisa Test or Take a Dengue IgM - Elisa Test
