I had sexual intercourse with a sex worker 25 days ago. Can I take an HIV 1 RNA PCR test now to get an accurate assessment of my HIV status?

HIV RNA PCR test is highly accurate and can detect infection as early as 10 to 14 days after exposure. At 25 days, it is a reliable test to check for early HIV infection. You may also do a 4th generation, HIV test at 28 days for confirmation. If both are negative, the result is very reassuring. No need to panic, follow up as needed.

View allSir, I have a doubt regarding HIV testing. If a person tests negative at 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, or even 10 years after exposure, but later tests positive, is it true that this depends on the immune system? Does this mean there is no conclusive test for HIV?

Hello Doctor, I recently did an HIV test using the ICT method about 1 month after possible exposure. How accurate is this test at this stage? Should I get tested again for confirmation?

After 10 weeks (70 days) of unprotected sex with a sex worker, I took a 4th generation HIV assay test at SRL Lab, and the result was non reactive. How safe am I from HIV after 90 days? Is there any chance that the HIV test could become positive after 90 days? Can the SRL Lab report at 70 days be considered reliable? I have attached the report for reference.
