I have been experiencing abdominal pain and diarrhea for the past 2 days. My stool test shows infection with Giardia lamblia. My doctor prescribed Ornidazole 500 mg, 2 tablets per day for 5 days. I would like to know whether Metronidazole is more effective than Ornidazole, or if Ornidazole alone is sufficient for treating this infection.

Both are effective. Ornidazole has a longer half life and fewer doses. If prescribed, it is safe to continue as advised by your doctor.

What should I do?
