Question
I have been experiencing skin loss in the middle region of my tongue for over 1.5 years. I have already taken several vitamin supplements, including B12, and my blood tests appear normal. I am not diabetic. I am highly sensitive to spicy foods, which causes loosening of the upper palate area. I also experience dry mouth at night and occasionally remove candida growth using a soft brush. Could this be atrophic glossitis?

Persistent tongue patch, sensitivity to spicy food, and dry mouth may indicate atrophic glossitis, oral lichen planus, or chronic candidiasis. Since vitamin levels are normal, other causes need evaluation. Avoid spicy, acidic foods, and maintain oral hygiene. Use a bland, soft diet. Do an Iron studies, Zinc levels, and an Oral Swab for Fungal Culture to check for hidden deficiencies or chronic fungal infection. Consult a dentist or ENT specialist for further evaluation.
Dr. Kamran Suggests...
Take a Iron Studies Test Test or Take a Zinc Test Test
